LDS Scriptures…
…are definitely my favorite scriptures. I’ve used them in church since I was a little kid. Now days most non-elderly people have smart phones or an Ipod Touch or some other electronic device that can store 27 universes worth of information in their pocket. Thanks to that development, paying attention in church is now an honor system thing. When I started attending Elders Quorum about 10 years ago and we were reading a particular scripture, you could tell who was paying attention to the lesson and who was not because they had their scriptures open in front of them. Ten years later, you could have everybody following along or nobody following along and you wouldn’t be able to tell which was the case. Now that the LDS Scriptures are on everybody’s phones, then people can be playing Scrabble online or posting items on Ebay and people assume that they are following along with the lesson. One day I was sitting between my two buddies who are both equipped with Iphones and one was online, and one was playing ‘Words With Friends’ with the guy on the row behind be. On the other hand, it is really convenient to have the scriptures and lessons handy without carrying books around. I guess it’s a double-edged sword.
