What used to be known as the \u201c7-pack\u201d is now condensed to the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.searchenginejournal.com\/google-local-pack-down-to-3-listings-address-phone-number-removed\/138447\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">3-pack<\/a>\u201d with a \u201cview more\u201d link at the bottom of the local results. Clicking &#8220;view more\u201d takes you to what some are calling the Local Finder, which displays 20 local results on the left and a map on the right.<\/p>\n<p>With all the changes Google is constantly making to their algorithm is this\u00a0such a big deal? Let\u2019s find out.<\/p>\n<h2>Why You Should Care About the Google 3-Pack<\/h2>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-11057\" title=\"Google 3-Pack Results Desktop Search\" src=\"\/images\/google-3-pack-desktop.png\" alt=\"Google 3-Pack Results Desktop Search\" width=\"300\" height=\"375\" \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rocksdigital.com\/dominate-google-local-search\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Optimizing for local search<\/a>\u00a0is even more important than ever, because the number of featured organic results is smaller.\u00a0Google is always testing changes to the way it displays its Search Engine Result Pages (SERPs) and, as a result, the display of local businesses has changed many times over the years. For example, in the past, Google tested the \u201ccarousel\u201d <em>(that can currently be seen when searching for movie show times)<\/em> to display local results. The carousel\u00a0didn\u2019t get the clicks Google\u00a0was hoping for, so they changed it to display only when users run a specific type of search.<\/p>\n<h3>What The Google 3-Pack Now Displays<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Website and direction links with big icons to the right of each result<\/li>\n<li>The type of location it is (e.g. \u201cPizza\u201d or \u201cHardware Store\u201d)<\/li>\n<li>The name of the street the location is on<\/li>\n<li>Information about the open hours of the business for the current day<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Google\u2019s AdWords are still displayed before the 3-Pack as well as to the right of the screen.
