{"id":14846,"date":"2015-09-04T14:19:46","date_gmt":"2015-09-04T19:19:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.adviceinteractivegroup.com\/?p=11170"},"modified":"2015-09-04T14:19:46","modified_gmt":"2015-09-04T19:19:46","slug":"google-my-business-verification-process","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.advicelocal.com\/blog\/google-my-business-verification-process\/","title":{"rendered":"Google Strikes Again &#8211; Google Business Profile Verification Process Change Up"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>No More Manual Verification for Google Business Profile!<\/strong>\u00a0You can no longer call Google up on the phone and get a business verified.<\/p>\n<h2>All businesses will have to verify through the Google Business Profile dashboard.<\/h2>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-11175 size-medium\" title=\"Google My Business Verification \" src=\"\/images\/Google-My-Business-Verification-249x300.png\" alt=\"Google My Business Verification \" width=\"249\" height=\"300\" \/>This is an excerpt of the announcement from <a href=\"https:\/\/productforums.google.com\/forum\/#!home\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Google\u2019s Help Forum<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>The Google Business Profile support teams will be declining requests for manual verification starting next week. Operators will redirect and educate users towards the official validation methods and will no longer have the mandate to manually validate businesses, except in extreme cases.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>It is necessary, per our policies, that users request a PIN from their GMB Dashboard and verify their business by entering the verification code they receive. The bulk verification process for businesses with 10 or more of same-type locations will remain the same.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While verifying over the phone was somewhat of a short cut, the online verification is not too complicated either. You can find the step-by-step guide to the verification process here: <a href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/business\/answer\/2911778?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/support.google.com\/business\/answer\/2911778?hl=en<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>One of the biggest downsides of this change is waiting 14 days to receive a postcard with a verification code, which you will then enter into the Google Business Profiledashboard to complete the verification.<\/p>\n<p>While it does require a few additional steps, and a 14-day wait for the code, it is imperative that you complete the verification process for your business. Without completing this verification you run the risk of your business not showing up on maps and being dropped from desktop and mobile search results.<\/p>\n<p>If you have considered hiring a company to help you with the verification process, but haven\u2019t followed up now is the time.
