No More Regus Locations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/beta.advicelocal.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/bigstock-Placemark-Favorite-Places-Town-13212650-300x219.jpg\" alt=\"Google Places\" \/>A recent inquiry has surfaced on Google Product Forums regarding a new Google Places policy that would ban <a href=\"https:\/\/www.regus.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Regus\u00a0business locations<\/a> to advertise on Google. Virtual offices have long been abused to try and acquire rankings and visibility in a city the business is not really located in. If all Regus-based locations were no longer able to advertise on Google Places, thousands of local businesses would be affected.<\/p>\n<p>User <span style=\"color: #222222;\">cm1960 comments:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #222222;\">&#8220;I&#8217;ve been informed by someone at Google Places that there is a new policy to disallow Regus business location businesses to advertise using Google Places.&#8221; \u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>They go on to say\u00a0a Google Places Representative named Travis has confirmed the policy, saying it&#8217;s &#8220;non-negotiable&#8221; and labeling it as a black and white issue.<\/p>\n<p>Linda Buquet of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.localsearchforum.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Local Search Forum<\/a> responds:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #222222;\">&#8220;It&#8217;s been long known that virtual offices are not allowed and Regus offices are often abused just to rank in cities a business is not really located in.\u00a0But I was not aware an official policy had been made that was that black and white.\u00a0I&#8217;ll escalate this post and ask Google to see if we can get official confirmation.&#8221;\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Read the full conversation here.<\/p>\n<p>At this point, the official policy is unconfirmed.
